My partner and I took a trip to Chicago! We had some flight credits expiring and a friend willing to host us for a few days, so off we went!

Now, I’m not huge into traveling. I go to a few furry conventions, but generally they are the only events that get me to travel. That said, if the stars align, I should try to change that. This trip has proven to me that visiting new and interesting places expands my world in a way that isn’t really comparable. For instance, it’s one thing to see a city in media, but it’s another thing entirely to go there and truly experience it. To which one might say, “duh!” But that’s a basic lesson I am still learning as I expand my world beyond the relatively narrow borders it’s had the last few decades. But let’s talk about Chicago!

Hello! Thanks for wandering in!

To start: I am no music critic, I have no credentials, I simply like to listen to music and share that music with others. I’ve enjoyed sharing music within Discord friend groups, but this is a relatively easy way to share it with as many folks as are interested. If I can spark interest for someone to listen to even one track they haven’t heard before, I’ll be more than happy. (And you can let me know what you think by finding me at various other places linked at the bottom of the page!)

First and foremost I realized I am out of my depth when it comes to web design! I’m using Hugo and a pre-made theme to generate this static site. (Credits in the footer.) Without it, this basic-looking website would be even more basic. (Trust me, my college-era website was a real treat. At least it would load well on dial-up?)

Hugo is a lovely little tool that essentially takes markdown files and HTML/CSS/Javascript templates and smushes them together to make a website. Because I’m using a pre-made theme, all the actual web components are bundled together for me, making the markdown files the real focus… if the theme is perfect. I tried one theme that was simply broken, and then I landed on the current one (Beautiful Hugo) for its relative simplicity while maintaining the functionality I required. Then I took out the CSS scalpel and began hacking away, specifically at the colors. They were fine, but I wanted my sona colors, dangit!
